Biography
Richard Melton is a native and current resident in Moorestown, New Jersey, with part time residences in Florida and Nevada. His wife Wendie is an elementary school teacher and they have two daughters together. In 1992, Richard received his BS in Finance from the University of Maine while playing Division I baseball. After graduating from U-Maine he went on to receive his Masters of Business Administration in 1995 from Rutgers University, New Jersey.
Richard’s initial professional career started as an adjunct professor of Management Information Systems at William Paterson College before being recruited by Kraft Foods in the International Accounting division. But it was his father and tough love business partner John F. Melton that soon persuaded Richard to come back to the family business, providing him with senior level responsibilities as Executive Vice President in 2003 and soon elected as President and CEO in 2006. Richard thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities, leadership responsibilities and diversified growth initiatives, and using the “second place is the first loser” moniker his father often used during meetings, enjoyed the challenges of positioning the company as the benchmark leader in the remanufacturing industry.
During this time frame Richard also started and managed a real estate development company and a parts distribution business, amongst others soon thereafter, and essentially expanding his working hours from early mornings into late evenings. “I have good roots, and a believer that you get out of life what you put into it.” After significant revenue and strategic investment gains, he resigned from the day-to-day activities of the family business at the end of the 2008 calendar year to allow his skilled older and younger brothers to take over as Executive Directors, and focusing more of his personal attention to his other companies and ambitions.
Some of Richard’s hobbies and interests include traveling, golf, coaching, attending sporting and music events, card games, computers and technology, school functions, charity and social events, various committee boards, business leadership and raising his family.
